Baroness Buffoon.
Helena Kennedy who advised the Scottish government on how to include men in legislation to protect women is proof of how entitled, lazy and incompetent the Scottish Establishment has become.
Humza Yousaf today hinted at the content of the SNP’s proposed Misogyny Bill. To no-one’s surprise it will protect not just women from woman-hate but also the sort of men sometimes politely referred to as transwomen or less politely as trans identified hairy-arsed dick-swingers.
Just as the Hate Crime Act actually promotes hate the Misogyny Bill looks set to actively support misogyny...which makes you wonder whether the SNP has quite mastered the business of legislating.
Few expected better from Yousaf who seems barely able to spell misogyny never mind tackle it. There were higher expectations though of the person given the job of considering how to implement such a law. Baroness Helena Kennedy KC, the prominent London-based human rights lawyer, who was appointed in November 2020 to lead the respective Justice Committee had a fine record of campaigning for women’s rights within the justice system.
Her 1993 book, ‘Eve Was Framed’ has often been described as inspirational by feminists for its passionate critique of systemic sexism in the courts. And yet…
I was more than skeptical. I just happened to have had my own interaction with Kennedy nine months before she was appointed. In February 2020 I met Kennedy at an event sponsored by the Thomson Reuters Foundation at her Doughty Street Chambers, and which she was chairing.
It did not go well…
