The Strange Case of Psychotic 'Sofia'.

The notion that gays and trans people are somehow natural allies never made sense. The shocking behaviour of one of the Arab world's most famous trans activists reminds us why.

Stop the presses. Sofia Taloni isn’t a woman after all.

I know it’s hard to believe that one of the most famous and controversial “transwomen” in the Arab world is actually a bloke. What with all that long hair and those hormonally induced moobs.

Yet despite all the incontrovertible indications of his (sorry I mean …her) totally undeniable femaleness Sofia Taloni has just gone and announced he’s not really a she after all. Who could have guessed? Sofia has, you see, detransitioned back to Naoufal Moussa, the Moroccan bloke he always was.

Here’s him coming out as what everybody knew he was anyway.

So should we congratulate Sofia ….aka Naoufal…for realising he was in the grip of a delusion? Wasn’t he a victim of the pernicious trans lobby that popularised its insane ideas across the world?

I don’t think it’s that simple. And not just because his detransition feels a little too convenient. Sofia Taloni’s trans activism reveals, like perhaps no other recent example, how blatant and visceral is the homophobia at the heart of the trans movement.
