The Insufferable Idiocy of David Tennant
The actor demanded Kemi Badenoch "shut up" but unlike him she's not gaslighting parents or promoting the mutilation of children. Tennant isn't a hero but an ignorant and dangerous loudmouth.
Pity poor Kemi Badenoch.
She just has to open her mouth and Alastair Campbell, Ian Dunt and various other liberal showboats dredge up their favourite pontificating adjectives. She has recently been described as everything from toxic and poisonous to bigoted and, in the case of James O’Brien, gross. Ian Dunt went so far as to call her primitive, which sounds a tad like the “othering” self-proclaimed centrists love to moan about.
Now even Badenoch’s existence is problematic, it seems. Or so opined the actor David Tennant as he received a bauble at the British LGBT Awards ceremony earlier this month.
“I’m a little depressed”, Tennant said with not even a hint of a quivery lip, “that acknowledging everyone has the right to be who they want to be, and live their life how they want to live it, as long as they’re not hurting anyone else, should merit any kind of special award….”
Can’t you just feel the sanctimony in his faux-modesty? If it wasn’t for Kemi Badenoch, in other words, Tennant was implying he wouldn’t even need to be given an award. He went one step further. Atop his pantomime moral high horse, he declared,
Until we wake up and Kemi Badenoch doesn’t exist anymore – I don’t wish ill of her, I just wish her to shut up – whilst we do live in this world, I am honoured to receive (this award).”
Like other celebrity poseurs like Daniel Radcliffe, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dwayne Wade, and Naomi Watts, Tennant was channeling his outrage that anyone could disagree with him. If only Badenoch, and no doubt pesky JK Rowling too, would just stop talking then perhaps we could all get back to the halycon days of that ‘No Debate’ mantra Stonewall and other LGBTQ+ goons tried so hard to enforce. That ain’t gonna happen.
For two reasons. One is that the public has now been alerted to the implications of the crazy trans agenda and are determined to oppose it in almost every sphere of life. The recent announcement that eight nurses are suing the NHS for failing to provide single sex spaces for them to change in, being just the latest example.
Heroes every one.
The second reason the debate is not about to calm down any time soon is that the trans lobby’s fatal flaw is its own delight in pushing moral boundaries. Its activists, with their heads full of logical contortions and non-sequiturs, measure what they imagine is success by the level of outrage they provoke. They are constitutionally unable to bank progress and settle down to enjoy it.
And so whether it’s about lactating men, the public funding of porn or teaching sexually explicit material to primary school children the trans lobby is driven by the need to keep generating shock. If the lobby had a mode of transport it would be the bus that the author Ken Kesey and his band of Merry Pranksters drove across California with the destination sign …reading…Furthur.
The irony is that Tennant and his celebrity ilk slam the likes of Kemi Badenoch when it is they themselves who are often the fiercest culture warriors. Tennant hypocritically tried to disguise this, of course by boo hooing about people being stopped from being who they want to be. What he really means is that people are having their delusion, about who they claim to be, challenged as opposed to automatically validated. Yet if I said I was 16 and Italian no one would insist society must validate my claim. That’s because one is impossible. The other requires the agreement of the Italian state.
Nor would Tennant and his fellow celebrities put their reputation on the line to defend other delusions like that of Rachel Dolezal who claimed to be black. By the way, the fact her claim was dismissed out of hand hasn’t stopped Dolezal. Six months ago, she was fired as a teacher after it was revealed she was identifying as a sex worker on the OnlyFans site. She’s also changed her name to Nkechi Diallo. Multiple identities seem to be her thing.
Yet the equally absurd identities claimed by trans people are treated with reverence by the likes of Tennant. That may have something to do with their home lives.
