They Fear Our Laughter Most Of All.
The stakes are so high in the battle against the LGBTQ+ lobby it often feels we must stay serious but humour is one of our most powerful weapons. And there’s plenty to laugh at.
Nothing is funnier than when someone hasn’t grasped that they are the person everyone else is laughing at. A perfect example of this was the hilarity triggered by Peter Tatchell’s claim pheasants can be queer. I’m writing a detailed post about this ridiculous claim as we speak. You’ll be unsurprised to learn taxpayers money helped fund the pseudo-research behind the claim.
As with all the great clowns of the past, what makes Tatchell so uproariously funny is his air of astonishment that anyone could possibly consider him ridiculous. Trans activism offers so many opportunities to proclaim pretendy moral superiority that it can’t help but attract those, like Tatchell, who have egos big enough to pose a danger to shipping lanes.
This week has seen a number of unlikely narcissists drift, like vast, broken down aircraft carriers, into public view. They range from a transgender attorney who tries to channel Betty Boop in court (and fails) to a gay senator whose performance would be rejected by Brazilian telenovas as overly emotional as well as a Humza sidekick who rivals him for the title of the densest obstacle in the universe.
We’ll also explore an example of television casting of a “trans hero” that will make your eyes roll harder than may be entirely healthy.
If we didn’t laugh, we’d have to cry.
